![Meet the facilitators guiding our journey in Leading for Liberation! 🌿
We’re thrilled to be joined by Brandon, a #mentalhealth and well-being advocate and global health policy fellow, and Romana, author of ‘Weaving Wholeness’ and a global #education leader. Together, they’ll be holding space for a journey rooted in shared leadership and intergenerational connection.
Over the course of three 90-minute virtual sessions, beginning this Sunday, we’ll explore practices of #innerleadership and intergenerational exchange, and explore photography as a way to shape and shift our narratives.

![Weaving Wholeness is a companion in the inner work of personal transformation for systems transformation.
At the Arts Practices for Inclusion course by @snehadharafoundation, practitioners are trained in #arts as a modality for #inclusion. At the heart of inclusion lies an understanding of how oppression, exclusion and marginalization shows up in the everyday lived experiences of people and remains invisible, unseen, unheard by those with privileged identities.
In examining the assumed and unstated ways of the ‘system’, we can begin to explore what it takes to create belonging and shift systems to truly include, enable foster agency for each and every being.
This is the work of 'Weaving Wholeness'. We are grateful to be part of the API program and are excited to follow the journey this group of practitioners will take as they read the book and reflect on their own inner worlds and outer worlds. 🌱

A globally reviewed author, Salzburg Global Seminar fellow and former director of Training and Impact at Teach for India, Romana brings over two decades of deep experience across fields like mental health, education, peacebuilding, social entrepreneurship and leadership. With '𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴', she integrates a nuanced understanding of the human body-mind, trauma, power relations and systemic oppression as it plays out in the lives of children everywhere, including those growing up in poverty and marginalisation.

Romana will lead us through inner dialogue practices and facilitate an inquiry into what it means to create a new paradigm of #education that dismantles systems of #oppression.

As part of the Weaving Wholeness embodied exploration at LSE Generate, Romana (@shaikhromana) will be joined by Dr. Elizabeth Ngutuku, a Research Fellow at the Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA), LSE. Dr. Elizabeth’s research across multiple universities in Europe and Africa focuses on interdisciplinary research on child poverty and vulnerability, education for marginalised children and youth, social protection and more. Together, Romana and Dr. Elizabeth will reflect on collective leadership and the role of #LoveandJustice in creating a thriving life for every child.
The session will also include readings and guided experiences from ‘Weaving Wholeness’ author Romana Shaikh, a global education leader and presence-oriented facilitator who integrates the science of #trauma with the wisdom of #wholeness.

This is what unfolded in Day 2 of The Pause and Breathe Gathering yesterday.
As we continued our journey, Day 2 invited us to move into the relational waters of #reckoning.
It is here that we make place to receive the truth of an-other.
How do we receive truth expressed by an-other?
The Truth can feel difficult but that does not mean it is hurtful. It is firm. It is still. It is transparent. It is authentic. Truth expressed from a place of Love and belief in our shared humanity is the Truth that has the power to create reconciliation.
Reconciliation within – integrating all the parts of ourselves that have been estranged.
Reconciliation with “the other” – embracing their truth, allowing it in, feeling the pain, tending to the rage.
Reconciliation that flows across space and time, that weaves hearts and minds together, that creates a sense of expansion that can hold a collective accountable. Reminding us about our responsibility. Instilling a force of conviction that motivates.
Transmuting rage to Justice
Transmuting grief to Love
Not knowing where to go next from here. Not knowing what to do.
So we simply sit, be with, listen to, witness.
We allow our hearts to open, we allow the flames to rise, we allow ourselves to be moved by Love for an-other, to pursue Justice for every other.
This was Day 2 of The Pause and Breathe Gathering.
Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the journey that Shanaaz Majiet and Suchetha Bhat (@bsuchetha) made possible for us all yesterday.
And for each person that joined, held space and went within.
Today, we will allow for something new to emerge from this stillness. A new purpose, a shared mission, our personal role in nurturing communities of Love and Justice.
Something that moves us together in pursuit of a thriving life for each child, for every child.

![How do you navigate #complexity and sit with inquiries that are too big to answer?
This is what we held space for yesterday.
60 people joined Day 1 of The Pause and Breathe Gathering and, together, we began the difficult work of reckoning.
A reckoning of grief silenced for generations.
A reckoning of systems that continue to oppress and exclude.
A reckoning of the system that sits within each of us.
A reckoning of feeling like ‘the other’.
We touched places within ourselves and offered our stories to each other. Connecting across identities and lands and beginning to recognize the failure of the world we live in. A failure to create a community that honours the diversity of lived experiences and contexts. A failure to build a world of inclusion, of safety, of belonging.
What would it take for us to move through this failure and truly create a new world? To truly be human better? To truly commit to a thriving life for each child, for every child?
